Five Dollar Concept: Arena is both a platform and game currently in the works at Complex Games.

Five Dollar Concept is a new indie game production and financing platform that we've developed as a way to help get new and innovative game ideas off the ground that might otherwise not get made in the standard industry system.  Five Dollar Concept appeals directly to gamers through a system of sponsorship, we provide players with the opportunity to play a slice of the game and get a sense of its look and feel, and if they like the concept, they can sponsor the title (minimum 5 bucks), in order to get privileged access to development builds, as well as an inside look into the development process for the game.  Higher tier sponsors will get access to specialized game merchandise, such as figurines, art books, and posters which can be cheaply produced.

Arena is our launch title for Five Dollar Concept, a rhythm-driven action game inspired by the classic NES title Punchout.  In Arena you follow the trials and tribulations of Tyrannus, a warrior of unknown origin who has entered the Trial of Champions to claim the mysterious Prize from its owner, the Sorcerer.  Over the course of the game,Tyrannus will be pitted against terrifying creatures and masterful gladiators in an all-out battle to claim the Prize and overcome the Sorcerer.

Arena and Five Dollar Concept is set to be launched in mid-2011, keep a watch out!
